HistoryCushman Sawmill, Inc. was founded in 1973 in Evening Shade, Arkansas. The family operation, built by Scott and Lou Ann Cushman and Scott's father, Arthur, originally produced about 40,000 board feet per week. For the next quarter century, the family operated the successful mill focusing on quality and integrity, expanding and advancing to respond to industry trends and customer demand.

In 1997, with the intention to build a fully modern, state-of-the-art sawmill, the operation moved to our current Batesville location. By 2002, with the addition of a grade resaw system, our output increased to 140,000 board feet per week. Running an updated sawmill, and recognizing the vast availability of lower grade logs and potential in the market, the Cushman’s took on our next challenge—adding a state-of-the-art scragg mill. The undertaking brought another generation of Cushmans aboard; partnering with son Aaron and his wife Holly created Cushman Forest Products, Inc.

Today Cushman Forest Products, Inc. operates on the same principles we always have, quality and integrity. We look forward to what comes next in the ever-changing lumber industry and to earning your business.
